Some years ago I decided that I don’t want to hand my data out to some big internet corporations for data mining, but keep my data for me, without to loose the comfort that a cloudstorage offers.
I had long followed the OwnCloud project and also the split of Frank Karlitschek and the resulting fork Nextcloud, which in my opinion was not only the perfect decission, but also for the right reason and with the right mindset. Nextcloud is going the right way.
So I did some research and came across NextcloudPi which is an integrated easy to setup Nextcloud system for RaspberryPi computers. I ordered a RPi 4 with 4 gig RAM and an external HDD and set up nextcloud for my own use. Nowadays Nextcloud is the backbone of my and my familys data needs.
